Hiba Ouadii is an Electrical Engineering student at The City College of New York and a Research Assistant at the Smart Grid Interdependencies Lab (SGIL), where she focuses on transportation electrification in dense urban regions. Her work includes developing and integrating energy-efficient solutions such as reversible substations for subway systems. She also serves as Vice Chair of both the IEEE Student Branch and the IEEE Power & Energy Society chapter, where she leads technical initiatives and supports student engagement and professional development. Hiba is passionate about advancing innovative technologies that improve the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of modern transportation infrastructure.

ITS-NY is pleased to share the announcement of the first-ever Dr. Hassan Homami Memorial Scholarship. Dr. Hassan was a strong believer in the importance of learning, expanding one’s mind, and pursuing higher education. He was passionate about helping the next generation of young learners access the education they sought. While earning his Ph.D., Dr. Hassan worked full-time and gave back as a mentor to interns throughout his career. This scholarship, created by Dr. Hassan’s wife, Nadereh Moini, is dedicated to supporting graduate students who are pursuing degrees in engineering. This scholarship will be awarded in January, with a second round to be awarded in late June. Congratulations to C2SMARTER student researcher Haggai Davis III. who has been selected as the recipient of this year’s ITE MET Section Dr. Louis J. Pignataro Memorial Transportation Education Award! Haggai is a 3rd year Ph.D. Candidate at NYU.

This award will be presented to Haggai at the next ITE MET Section Meeting on April 17th at Princeton University.
